Starts with Randy Moss, ends with Rodney Harrison

Randy Moss, playing at a charity game in Jupiter, FL, stated that he doesn't think he'll be a Patriot after 2010. This did not come off as selfish or diva-esque, or anything else. He thinks that his value will be less than they will be willing to pay.

But Randy, what about our love? Our deep-seeded love? I hope that he is proven wrong, although I respect his candor in the matter. Good guy, really.

Incidentally, I have stopped reading 'Extra Points,' the boston.com Patriots blog, because I couldn't deal with the lack of professional proofreading (this is the website of the Boston Globe, so come on people and step it up). Actually, that's a bit of a white lie. I did stop reading for those reasons, but my tipping point was when they ran a story asking who doesn't like Peyton Manning. The answer: me, and about 75% of your readership. I do still read their Red Sox coverage (even when they post somewhat ick pictures of Josh Beckett...see previous post).

Here is a fabulous example, though, of the crapterrific proofreading:

'Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison hit on the team's absence of a defensive coordinator and dearth of leadership at Heath Evans's charity softball game.'

I had no idea that you needed a defensive coordinator for softball or that there was a dearth of leadership at Heath Evans's game. Dear me. They take their off-season charity softball seriously, I guess.

If you're wondering, Rodney basically feels that Bill is capable of everything and anything, and that it will all be okay. Although he did point to a lack of leadership with the young defense.

Rodney Harrison opens mouth, spews truth

This is his take on the Seymour trade:

"He's not thrilled," said Harrison, now an analyst for NBC's Football Night in America. "Who would be thrilled to go to the Oakland Raiders? Maybe somebody who's happy to just get a chance but not a guy like Richard Seymour, a five-time Pro Bowler. For a veteran player to go to Oakland at this juncture it's just difficult.

"Put yourself in his position," Harrison added. "He's going from a first-class organization to one of the worst in the NFL. You have the head coach fighting the assistant coaches, the owner involved in the day-to-day operations, guys who don't believe in the quarterback. . . . Tom Brady to JaMarcus Russell? Come on. Is that something to look forward to? Why would he be excited?"

Asked if Seymour would report to the Raiders, Harrison said, "I don't know that. Only Richard knows that. But I wouldn't go to Oakland. There's no way in the world I would go to Oakland. The only way I would report is if they promised they wouldn't franchise me after this year."

So as of today, Seymour still hasn't reported. I'm having a kind of cruddy day and continue to remind myself that it could be worse. I was not traded to the Raiders. That is a pretty low bar to set, I know, but who would want to go?

Rodney Harrison's Superbowl prediction

From yesterday's NBC pregame show:

"Unlike last year's Super Bowl, this year's Super Bowl will be won by the best team and that's the Pittsburgh Steelers."

You might be wondering by now if I even watched Superbowl or have any comments about it. I do and I will. Right now, though, I need to play a lot of work catch-up (although that Montreal uniform could not go without comment).

Rodney Harrison no Favre

Rodney Harrison (who is a safety, which makes me slightly sad that I can't use the 'We Need Corners' tag) has still not decided on whether he is going to return or not. Currently he is rehabbing from his injury against Denver and will make a decision closer to the start of the season.

He explicitly stated that he did not want a Brett Favre situation. Speaking of which, we still haven't heard anything about that. He probably wants to wait until after Superbowl when his decision will draw more media coverage......
